Tribute to Sr. Lorraine Marie Delaney

A very special person, I ever met in my life is my loving and dear companion and friend SR. LORRAINE MARIE DELANEY lovingly called LOR.

Sr. Lorraine was a radiant presence in my life with her infectious humour, warmth, and genuine care for me and for everyone around.

While we were in initial formation, I being timid and shy having left home for the first time, she was a guiding light to me, helping me to grow and bringing out the best in me and in others too.

Her leadership was a testament to selflessness, and outgoing service, touching the lives of both young and old. She was a dynamic person who inspired me and others to be better versions of ourselves. Her helping the unfortunate was truly remarkable. While recouping during my illness her question to me was " Bella, your project beneficiaries are without help for two months, when will you reach out to them?"

As my batchmate and confidante, she always provided a listening ear and unwavering support. Her presence in my life was a great blessing. She helped me navigate those challenging times with a firm but gentle guidance and reassuring words. I cherished the bond we shared until the end - daily messages, calls filled with care and concern. The time spent together in Rome; Hyderabad are memories I hold dear. Her invitation that we should meet together during her holidays at home in Goa in December 2025 will ever be sad moments for me as we would never meet.

Her last message on August 15th, the feast of the Assumption of our Lady and India's Independence Day will linger with me.

Lorraine's passing leaves a void but a legacy of love, service and kindness, which will ever remain with me till the end.

I express my profound gratitude to my dearest Lorraine for the role she played in my life.
