Grandparents: The Priceless Pillars of the Family

On 15th December, St. Joseph’s Convent Primary School, Sambalpur organised a special programme to honour the grandparents of the Class V students, recognising their invaluable role in family and society. The event aimed to foster respect, love,
gratitude, and understanding for grandparents both at home and in the wider community. As people advance in age, they may experience physical, mental, and emotional challenges that affect their independence. At times, this can make them feel overlooked
or burdensome. The programme thoughtfully highlighted these realities, reminding students of the importance of compassion, patience, and empathy towards the elderly. It emphasised that small acts of care and kindness can greatly enhance their happiness
and sense of dignity. The celebration reinforced the belief that age does not define a person’s worth or ability. With determination, confidence, and a positive attitude, individuals can continue to contribute meaningfully to life. Students were encouraged to develop self-reliance and strong values from an early age, helping them grow into responsible and caring individuals. Grandparents enrich families with wisdom, life experiences, and treasured traditions.Their guidance strengthens bonds and lays a solid moral foundation for younger generations. The programme also featured delightful entertainment for the grandparents, some of whom enthusiastically showcased their talents. The joy on their faces and the pride in their grandchildren’s performances made the occasion truly memorable. As Helen Keller said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched; they must be felt with the heart.”
